I am tired of being a sperm donor

I took up a job to impregnate women. Does that sound weird?

As a graduate of one of the top universities in Nigeria, getting a job for me was like squeezing water from a stone. The jobs were simply not there and I couldn’t stand the thought of my wife and four sons going hungry.

So, when a friend approached me that a hospital needed men to have sexual intercourse with some of their female patients seeking the fruit of the womb, it sounded like fun to me initially.

As we speak, I have had sex with more than fifty women, many have had successful births from these encounters.

Don’t ask me why these women and their partners would prefer to go through these crude ways rather than attempt the various fertility treatments science has improved on or just go to the sperm banks. Just like me, the economy has led many to seek the cheapest means of survival.

Today, I am a proud owner of a bungalow. I have my second-hand car, I feed my wife and children without blinking.

Agony Aunt, But I am tired of this lifestyle, each day I look at my wife and sons with a sense of guilt. I am overwhelmed with so many children I will never get to know.

I am scared, but I don’t want to go hungry again or die in poverty. I took a break but I intend to go back to the job next month, I have had my blood work done, sperm test, and speed test done

 

Agony Aunt: Dear sperm donor, I am sorry to hear that you have to go through this path for survival. Please have a heart-to-heart talk with your wife and explain the situation on the ground. But remember, she might divorce you or try to understand the reasons why you chose that path to survival. You know your wife better though.

Do you frown at jobs considered menial? One thing you should have at the back of your mind is that there is dignity in legitimate hard work.

Think outside the box, research, look for services you can render to people without needing capital. Go online, some jobs are offered by various international organizations e.g. teaching, writing.

Within your community provide cleaning services, run errands on a large scale, the list is too numerous to mention. Above all, if you must donate sperm, go the legal way, sperm banks.
